Liverpool Hope welcomed more than 115 people from the business community of Liverpool to celebrate the start of the Liverpool Hope International Tennis Tournament.
Liverpool Hope University are the main sponsors of the world-class tennis tournament held at Calderstones Park from Thursday20th to Sunday 23rd June. To celebrate the tournament and mark the end of the Corporate Doubles Draw held at the Festival of Tennis at Liverpool One, Hope welcomed members of the city’s business community to the event.
Amongst the guests were competitors from the Corporate Doubles Draw including Kenyon Fraser, Williams BMW, Radio City and Northern Vision, as well as sponsors of the tournament and other businesses. Lord Mayor of Liverpool Gary Millar and the organiser of the International Tennis Tournament Anders Borg were also guests of Liverpool Hope’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Pillay.
Speaking at the event, Professor Pillay said: “It is a privilege to be able to welcome so many people from our great city to Liverpool Hope. We are so proud of our beautiful campuses and fantastic events facilities at the University and we are delighted to be able to showcase them at this event.
“We are so pleased to be involved with the International Tennis Tournament and to be able support such a wonderful event in our local community.” Anders Borg says: ”This fantastic dinner rounded up three-week Festival of Tennis, where more than 2500 people were given free tennis lessons in Chavasse Park. We are now all looking forward to move to Calderstones Park for the Liverpool Hope International.”
At the event, Liverpool Hope’s Corporate Doubles team, Jonathan Coffey and Adam Owen were awarded the winners’ trophy. The pair are both students at Liverpool Hope studying Education and Sports Studies and are part of the Students’ Union Tennis Club.
