Martina Navratilova, Martina Hingis and the last British woman to win Wimbledon – Virginia Wade are all together in Liverpool this week to celebrate the 10th Liverpool International Tennis Tournament.
Organiser Anders Borg said: “It does not get better than this, these three women are true legends of the sport and great ambassadors across the world, I am delighted to have them all here this week.”
Navratilova and Hingis played there first match on Friday, one by the younger of the two, Hingis – 6-4, 6-4.
All three were given a great welcome onto centre court and enjoyed there first match.
Miss Wade commented: “The city is beautiful. The architecture is amazing – the old architecture and the new architecture – and I’m really, really delighted to have reason to come here.
“When I was told about the tournament I thought ‘Wow. That’s a really good idea.’
