The 12th ITF Lexus Liverpool International Junior Tournament starts at The Liverpool Tennis Centre, Wavertree and The Wirral Tennis Centre, Bidston this Saturday, November 2nd 2024.
The tournament, which runs until Friday, November 15th, is a crucial part of our year-round community programme. It brings talented national and international youngsters to Liverpool.
The event gives local children the chance to watch and compete against international junior players in their age group through wildcards.
Since 2014, Northern Vision has been the driving force behind the Lexus Liverpool International Junior Tennis Tournament. The event has seen over 10,000 players from an impressive 60 nations come together to compete for international junior ranking points.
Tournament director Anders Borg said: “We’ve developed Liverpool to become a major city for international junior tournaments and, in cooperation with David Hardman from Liverpool City Council and The Liverpool Tennis Center, made Liverpool the hub that organises the most International Tennis Federation U18 in the UK.
This year, we are excited to announce that some qualifying rounds, including the Tennis Europe U14, will be held at Wirral’s Bidston Tennis Center. Local players from both clubs have been granted wildcards, giving them a unique opportunity to compete internationally and earn official ranking points.”
These events are part of the Qube Liverpool International Tennis Tournament’s annual tennis events in the city. The tournament, established in 2002, is the longest-running tennis exhibition in Europe.
Event organisers Northern Vision want to make an active difference in the lives of Liverpool’s youngsters, helping them develop transferable life skills like self-esteem, respect for others, and teamwork.
Involvement in sports also helps in the fight against obesity and crime.
