“Liverpool is lucky to have this event.” – In Conversation with Soloco Creative.

From content strategy to centre court visibility, Soloco Creative’s Lee O’Connor shares why the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament is a natural fit – both professionally and personally.

Tell us about what you do.
You could call me a narrative strategist or a clarity consultant. But most people just call me a copywriter.

Essentially, I help businesses sound like the experts they are by making their content clearer, more credible, and easier to understand.

What attracted you to The Liverpool International Tennis Tournament?

I’ve been involved with Liverpool Tennis one way or another for years. I first attended in 2010 and was immediately hooked – it’s such a brilliant event.

Over time, I got to know Anders and the team through various roles. When the chance came for Soloco to create the tournament’s content, it was an easy yes. It’s also a great way to meet people, build relationships and spend a few sunny days in June.

How does your organisation engage with the tournament each year?

Entertaining clients in the hospitality lounges is always a highlight. It’s a chance to say thanks, share a nice lunch and enjoy top level sport at a fantastic venue.

The networking is a big part of it, too. And I always get a buzz from seeing Soloco Creative alongside some of the city’s leading names.

What makes the event special?

There’s nothing else like it. Most corporate events are inside stuffy rooms and feel forced.

Liverpool Tennis strikes the right balance between business and pleasure. You’re there to connect, but you’re also watching a high-quality sporting event.

It’s one of the highlights of the social calendar, and the city’s lucky to have it.

Do you have a favourite memory from the tournament?

Seeing my company logo on centre court for the first time stands out. It felt like a proper milestone. My mum was made up, too!

Beyond that, spending a few days each year surrounded by good people reminds you why you put the work in.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s Liverpool International Tennis Tournament?

I’d love to see the event sell out this year. That’s what we’re all aiming for – getting as many people there as possible.

And I’ll probably have a few beers on the Friday. It’d be rude not to.
