Kevin Anderson is ready for Liverpool International

Following a successful week at AEGON Championships in London, beating grass-court specialist and world no. 17 Feliciano Lopez in straight sets, Kevin Anderson continues his Wimbledon preparation at the Medicash Liverpool International next week. The South African said, “I’m really looking forward to this event which will be vital for my preparations for Wimby. It will be my first time in Liverpool so it will be a fantastic experience”.

The twenty-six year old is currently in the form of his life gaining a career high ranking of world no. 28 earlier this year. Anderson´s success is tributed to “day by day commitment and dedication to tennis”. Anderson said “I am really pleased to hear that Liverpool International has a whole day dedicated to introducing children to tennis”. The family story all started from a very early age with an old tennis ball and a length of string, better known as Swingball. Their father, after noticing how much talent his two son´s had, begun to build a wall for them to practice against. It was countless hours, days, weeks and months spent practicing with that wall that has produced the talent that is Kevin Anderson.

“My dad used to play a bit himself,” says Kevin Anderson. “He was self taught, read a lot of books, watched a lot of videos. He has played the biggest part of my tennis career. Growing up if the practice was two or three hours, we would often spend the first hour just doing footwork and shadow strokes. We spent a lot of time swinging in front of the mirror. I still do it today. Especially, if I want to work on a few things.” DUECE Magazine, Jan 2012.

Kevin Anderson will be appearing at the tournament from June 21st – 24th. Play commences each day at 13:00. Tickets are available online at ticketmaster and echo arena websites as well as at the box office in Calderstone park. Car parking is available throughout the event near the park at a cost of £5. Order of play is subject to change, please check the website for the latest information.
