Joining the grass court tournament for the first time. Lorenzi is currently enjoying an all time high, as Italia´s 3rd best player and number 49 in the ATP-world ranking. He recently achieved a career-high singles ranking as world number 48, reached in June 2016.
Born on 15th of December 1981, Lorenzi reached his first ATP World Tour-final at the age of 32, in São Paulo. Here, at the 2014 Brasil Open, the Italian reached the semifinals of an ATP Tour tournament for the first time, upsetting Juan Mónaco in three sets; then progressing to the final after the retirement of Tommy Haas in the second set of their semifinal match. He would go on to lose the final to Argentine Federico Delbonis in three sets.
Lorenzi began playing tennis at age 7, and was introduced to the game by his older brother Bruno. His tennis idol is Boris Becker. He enjoys football and basketball, and supports Fiorentina and MPS Siena. In his spare time, Lorenzi likes listening to music and reading books by Stephen King
Lorenzi will be replacing russian tennis starlet Andrey Rublev, in matches against the tournament´s ATP-proffessionals, such as current world number 89, Damir Dzumhur (BIH).
