Luxury electric car pioneer Tesla adds green glamour to Liverpool Hope University
International Tennis Tournament.
Global car manufacturer Tesla has become the latest high-profile partner for the
Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament.
Started in Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, California 11 years ago, Tesla was
created to prove that electric vehicles were not only a viable,
environmentally-friendly alternative to internal combustion engine cars, but
could also deliver an amazing driving experience.
The firm is now a partner for the Liverpool Hope University Tennis Tournament
where reigning Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli will play this year, and
organiser Anders Borg said the partnership was perfect for the competition.
“Our grass courts just got a little greener following this announcement,” he
said. “Tesla’s philosophy of developing environmentally friendly technology that
can deliver performance that exceeds most petrol cars is ground-breaking.
“We are committed to making the tournament as environmentally friendly as
possible, promoting the use of public transport, some of which uses hybrid
electric engine technology, to get to the event. But Tesla is the future and
hopefully one day everyone will be able to get here in a stylish
electrically-powered, green vehicle.”
Georg Ell, country director at Tesla Motors UK and Ireland, said, “We’re looking
forward to introducing Model S at this prestigious event in Liverpool. We will be
doing test drives from the tournament at Liverpool Cricket Club to give drivers
the chance to experience the car for themselves. What could be better than a day
