The final trials of the Barclays Ball Kids search for 2011 took place on Saturday with 100 children competing to be one of the lucky 30 to be selected for the ATP Masters Finals at the O2 Arena in November.
Three of Northern Vision’s Ball kids made it through the regional trails beating off competition from thousands of children across the country and two of them Thomas Kyle and Julius Pope were given the news last night that they had been chosen as part of the lucky final 30 and the children in the North West to be chosen!
“It’s amazing news, I’m so proud of what they have achieved. Being part of the ATP Masters Final, which has the top 8 players in the world competing against each other for the final trophy of the season is amazing.
To step out on court with the likes of Novak Djokovic, who we have been lucky to have at our tournament in Liverpool, is the opportunity of a lifetime”, said Kris George Assistant Tournament Referee of The Liverpool International.
Barclays Ball Kids is a nationwide scheme that has captured the hearts and minds of kids from all over the country and has given a huge array of children the determination to be the best at what they do. The final squad of 30 was handpicked by Boris Becker, Mark Petcheyand the Barclays Ball Kids’ coaching team.
“I have trained the boys over the past three years for The Liverpool International Tennis Tournament and for two Davis Cup matches. They were superb at the weekend and really couldn’t have done any more. It is great for them, the City and the tournament.” Said Kris.
