Jean Michael Gambill is joining Greg Rusdeski , Peter McNamara , Barry Cowan and Michael Pernfors in the legends line up for the 13th Liverpool Hope International Tennis Tournament.
M Gambill reached the quarterfinals of the 2000 Wimbledon Championships, the final of the 2001 Miami Masters, and won three singles titles. Gambill began playing tennis at the age of five, looking up to multiple Grand Slamsingles titlists Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe. He has defeated, amongst other top players, former World No. 1s Roger Federer, Carlos Moya, Lleyton Hewitt, Pete Sampras, and Andre Agassi, as well as Grand Slam champions Michael Chang, Thomas Johansson.
Gambil says “I am thrilled to be playing singles in Liverpool again, l have great memories from the city and the event as l played in the inaugural final against Marat Safin back in 2002 losing in three set but l liked it so much that l came back the following year to win the International. JM will feature every day of the Liverpool Hope University International Tennis Tournament 19th to 22nd of June.
