“Liverpool Tennis is the perfect storm of sport and business.” – In Conversation with Aabyss

From cybersecurity and client relationships to centre court networking, Aaron Hayes, Head of Marketing & Public Relations at Aabyss, explains why the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament is an event worth backing.

Tell us about your company.

Founded in 2003, Aabyss is a Managed Service Provider delivering IT and cybersecurity solutions to organisations across the UK. We’re headquartered in Liverpool, with an office in Sheffield.

We help businesses operate securely, efficiently, and confidently in a constantly changing IT environment, ensure technology supports businesses rather than holding them back.

We typically work with organisations with more than 10 IT users, focusing primarily on businesses within an hour’s travel of our Liverpool or Sheffield operations.

What attracted Aabyss to the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament?

Aabyss has attended the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament in the past, and I have personally been involved since 2019. Over the years, I have seen first‑hand the positive impact the tournament has on people, businesses, and the wider Liverpool City Region.

Beyond the tennis itself, the event brings together local businesses and the community to create meaningful connections, and shines a spotlight on Liverpool as a city that supports sport and opportunity.

That combination of community impact, business engagement, and sporting excellence is what makes the tournament so valuable, and why it continues to be an event I am proud to support.

What appealed about the partnership?

I have always believed in the power of sports marketing, and for Aabyss to partner with the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament genuinely feels like a natural fit.

I have known Anders and the Northern Vision team for many years. It’s clear how much this tournament, and tennis more broadly, means to him. His passion for the sport and for creating opportunities is infectious. If Aabyss were going to align with a sporting event, tennis would always be the right choice.

I later learned that Nugent is one of the charity partners and that truly sealed the decision for me. We are incredibly proud that Aabyss provides IT support to the Nugent team, which does such important work in the community.

Supporting an event that brings together sport, community, and meaningful local impact is exactly what this partnership is about.

What do you think makes Liverpool Tennis such a unique event for the city?

Liverpool has both a rich sporting heritage and some of the best-in-class organisations making a genuine impact on the global stage.

The Liverpool Tennis Tournament is the perfect storm of a great sporting spectacle, amazing networking and a chance to see some old personalities as well as meet new people.

From a commercial perspective, this partnership has come full circle for me. I first met several business leaders at the Liverpool Tennis Tournament in 2019, before I joined Aabyss.

Years later, after joining the team, a number of those same people are now Aabyss clients. Working with Andres and Northern Vision to secure this partnership and become a presenting partner brings that journey together in a really meaningful way.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s tournament?

Watching the tennis and giving our clients an amazing day out in a brilliant venue.

I’m also looking forward to seeing faces I haven’t seen in a few years, making new contacts, and pursuing new opportunities.

And if I am honest, seeing the Aabyss brand on display. As a marketer, it is always a moment of pride. Seeing it at the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament is guaranteed to make the Aabyss team smile.

Any clients, colleagues, or teams attending this year?

We have invited a number of our clients to attend the tournament, and several members of the Aabyss team will be there as well. A number of the clients we invited already have tables or were planning to attend independently, which speaks volumes.

If you need any further proof that the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament is an event worth getting behind, that really says it all.
