Today the 19th Edition of the Liverpool International Tennis tournament got underway on the incredible grass centre court at Liverpool Cricket Club.

In the Men’s Singles Marcus Willis beat up and coming 16-year old Patrick Brady 6-3 6-4 in a thrilling match that had it all.

Patrick was recently in the third round of Junior Wimbledon and is the same age as his hero Novak Djokovic when he made his debut here in Liverpool in 2005.

In the other men’s semi-final, former Davis Cup winner James Ward beat the local qualifier Alex Foot-Knowels 8-1 setting up an exciting final with Willis tomorrow.

In the Women’s singles Beth Grey beat Amelia Stuart 6-2 6-2 in an entertaining first match. 

We look forward to welcoming you all tomorrow for Finals Day.

Doors open at 12pm and play commences at 1pm.

Alex Fook-Knowles Vs James Ward

Alex Fook-Knowles won the qualifying final against Calvin Duke at Palmerston Tennis Club, the score was 8-4 in a superset. Alex will now play former Davis Cup Winner James Ward on centre-court on Thursday 19th Aug at Liverpool Tennis Club. Alex is photographed below with tournament referee Mike McBrien. Mike McBrien is representing the Vagabonds Tennis Club.
