Andrey Rublev (RUS) vs. Aljaz Bedene (GBR)

First match of the day was 17-year-old Russian starlet Andrey Rublev (RUS) against British number 2, 25- year-old Aljaz Bedene. Rublev, notorious for finishing his points quickly, stayed true to his strategy. As usual, he utilised his forehand in particular on return of serve to try to dominate a point early. Due to this, Bedene made a conscious effort to serve big and prevent himself being on the back foot. He served extremely well and even achieved a whole game of aces.:

Points were generally quick and the crowd were delivered multiple winners throughout.

Final score: 5-8 to Aljaz Bedene

Pablo Andújar (ESP) vs. Damir Dzumhur (BIH)

A very different match to the first one of the day, as both players were happy to step into a rally situation and explore a wider range on the court. Drop shots and touch tennis kept the crowd on their toes with plenty of net play also in the mix.

The outcome of the match between these two ATP players boiled down to a couple of points involving unforced errors on Dzumhur´s behalf.
